Our Mission Statement
The mission of The Naturist Society is to promote body acceptance through clothing-optional recreation using the tools of education and community outreach.
The Naturist Society views clothing-optional recreation as essential to body acceptance. Through clothing-optional recreation, participants, be they individuals, couples or families, learn to appreciate the diversity of body types and gain a better understanding and acceptance of their own bodies.

Dear Naturist Friends,
I just sent out a message to the people I had e-mail addresses for, who attended the Eastern Naturist Gathering last year reminding them to register soon. I just realized that the ENG is only a short 2 1/2 months away. Where does the time go?
I’m urging everyone to register as soon as possible. The private cabins are almost gone already. Although the bunk cabins weren’t too full last year so some of you had private accommodations even while in a bunk cabin.
There have been a few improvements at our Eastern Gathering site over the winter. They’ve added a few new structures and fixed up several of the old ones. But, as we found out in the last two years, it’s really not about the place; it’s about the people. All of you are what makes the gathering such a success.
I’m beginning to put the program together and hope that those of you wanting to be included on the program will get your program ideas in to me as soon as possible.
We did send out registrations forms for this event in the latest issue of N, but if you need another or want one to share with a friend, they are available on our web site. Vendor and workshop leader forms are there as well. Find them here: www.naturistsociety.com/tns/n_events/TNS_Events.html
Time is getting short; please register in plenty of time for me to process all applications well before the June 1 deadline.

Naturist Society founder Lee Baxandall
TNS founder Lee Baxandall's first skinny-dipping experiences were as a young Boy Scout camping in Twin Lakes Reservation in Wisconsin. After receiving his master's degree in Comparative Literature from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Baxandall moved to New York, where he became active writing, translating, and critiquing plays. He also applied his writing skills to producing books on the arts, psychology, and politics. His political activism at this time prepared him for his interest in naturism to come. A Gathering Highlight - "It Gets Better-Philly's Video"
Enjoy this inspiring video about acceptance and identity like so many did at this year's gatherings! Originally created as a message of hope and support for LGBTQ youth, this video sends the message that every community is stronger when it stands for equality by embracing diversity and inclusive support of identity in all its forms. "It Gets Better-Philly's Video" was produced and directed by Nude & Natural contributing photographer Mark Orpen's daughter Mel, its message is one everyone can aspire to.
